Instructions for Hawaiian consuls, 1848
Printed copies of 'General instructions for His Majesty's consuls, issued by the Minister of Foreign Relations [R.C. Wyllie]', dated Department of Foreign Relations Honolulu, 25 August 1848. Four copies are in English, and four are in Hawaiian.
Miscellaneous papers and artefacts, circa 1770-1969 (mostly nineteenth and twentieth centuries)
This series divides into four parts: L1-6 contain original papers of governments and other non-commercial organisations; L7-10 consist of maps, plans, photographs, artwork and newspapers, mainly relating to Jardine, Matheson & Co., but including some general material; L11-13 contain secondary material regarding the company and its archive; and L14-16 are miscellaneous papers and artefacts unconnected to the other series in the archive.
Papers of consulates, 1820-1880
Papers relating to the activities of consulates, comprised mainly of orders, circulars and notices. The series features consuls of Great Britain, Denmark, Germany, Hawaii, the Netherlands, Peru and the United States based mainly in China and Hong Kong, but also in Hawaii, Japan and Sourabaya. There are some documents in Danish, Dutch, French, Hawaiian and Portuguese.
Papers of the Hawaiian government, 1848-circa 1881
Copies of documents by or concerning the Hawaiian government, including laws, regulations and directives; treaties with other nations; and notices, circulars and proclamations. Most of the papers involve Robert Crichton Wyllie, the Hawaiian Minister of Foreign Relations. The majority are printed, and some are in Hawaiian.
